Prenatal Pilates in Gaythorne

However far along you are, and however this pregnancy is going, you belong on our reformer. Movement isn't something to be cautious around during pregnancy — for most women it's actively recommended, and staying active right through to birth is linked to an easier pregnancy, labour and recovery. Prenatal Pilates at Stoked Studio is built to move with you — not around you — through every trimester, with an instructor watching every rep and adjusting as you and your body change, week to week.

How Much Movement Is Recommended During Pregnancy?

The Australian Government's physical activity guidelines recommend pregnant women aim for 2.5 to 5 hours of moderate-intensity activity a week (things like brisk walking or swimming), or 1.25 to 2.5 hours of vigorous activity, or a mix of both — plus muscle-strengthening activity on at least two days a week, and daily pelvic floor exercises throughout pregnancy and beyond. Pilates is named directly in the guidelines as a suitable strength activity for pregnancy.

A weekly Prenatal class — or a Build or Flow session, modified for you — counts toward that strength-training target, and pelvic floor work is built into every class we run. The main things the guidelines flag to avoid are activities with a real risk of falling or collision, heavy lifting, exercising in extreme heat, and anything that causes pain or discomfort — reformer Pilates sits comfortably outside all of those, which is a big part of why it's such a well-suited way to stay active while you're pregnant.

A class built around you

Prenatal is a dedicated reformer Pilates class, designed from the ground up around a pregnant body's changing needs — supporting strength, posture and pelvic floor health — and adapted trimester by trimester as what feels good for you shifts.

Prenatal runs Tuesday and Friday evenings at 6:00pm.

Prenatal isn't the only class open to you while you're pregnant. Build and Flow are both suitable right through every trimester, modified session to session as you need — plenty of our pregnant clients move between Prenatal and their regular Build or Flow days through the week, and we'd genuinely encourage you to. Book whatever fits your week; your instructor will adjust the class around you, every time, whichever one it is.

The one exception is Charge, our highest-intensity format, which we don't recommend continuing past around 14 weeks. That's exactly why Prenatal sits in the Tuesday and Friday evening slots Charge normally runs — so you're never without a class on those days, just a class built for where you're actually at.

Ready to keep moving through your pregnancy?

Begin with our 28 Day Start — the way everyone gets started at Stoked — and try Prenatal alongside Build or Flow to find what fits your week.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Pilates safe during pregnancy?

Yes! Reformer resistance is easy to scale, and we follow best practice pregnancy guidelines to ensure safety and comfort during your class — your instructor manages all of this for you.

Do I have to book Prenatal, or can I keep coming to my normal class?

Whichever suits you. Build and Flow are both suitable to attend throughout pregnancy with modification (which your instructor will manage for you), so you're welcome to keep your usual days. Prenatal is simply a dedicated option — including on Tuesday and Friday evenings, where Charge would otherwise be unsuitable once you're past the first trimester.

How do I book, and is there a special Prenatal pack?

There's no separate pass or pricing tier for Prenatal — it books exactly like any other class, on your existing membership, pack, or casual booking, through [our online booking system]. Just select a Prenatal session (Tuesday or Friday, 6:00pm) from the timetable the same way you'd book Build or Flow.

I've never been to Stoked before — where do I start?

Start with our 28 Day Start — a $200, 28-day intro to the studio that's the way everyone begins at Stoked, pregnant or not. It gets you settled into the reformer, comfortable with how classes run, and you can use it to try Prenatal alongside Build or Flow to see what fits your week best.

When can I start Prenatal classes?

Any time from your first trimester onward, once your GP or obstetrician has cleared you for exercise. Just let your instructor know how far along you are when you book your first class.

What should I bring?

Water, comfortable clothing you can move in, and an idea of how far along you are so your instructor can tailor the class from the first rep.
