Mums & Bubs Pilates in Gaythorne

Movement is one of the best things you can do for yourself in the postnatal season — and you shouldn't have to choose between that and being with your baby. Mums and Bubs at Stoked Studio is a reformer Pilates class built around exactly that: bring bub along in their pram or capsule, and move at a pace that respects where you're at right now

How Much Movement Is Recommended After Birth?

Once you're cleared by your doctor at your six-week postnatal check, Australian guidelines recommend working back up to around 150 minutes of physical activity a week, built up gradually and broken into sessions that suit you — it doesn't need to happen all at once. Pelvic floor work is recommended daily throughout this period, and it's built into every Mums and Bubs class alongside full-body strength work.

Gentle movement like walking is fine from the first days after birth, as soon as you feel up to it, but group classes like Mums and Bubs are recommended from your six-week check onward, once your doctor has confirmed you're ready. If you had a caesarean, a difficult birth, or any complications, it's normal for that timeline to be a bit longer — go at the pace that's right for you.

A Class Built Around You (And Bub)

Mums and Bubs is a dedicated reformer Pilates class, designed around the postnatal season — rebuilding strength, stability and confidence, with a focus on core and pelvic floor recovery, in a room full of other mums doing exactly the same thing, at exactly the same stage. No need to organise separate care just to get back to moving.

Mums and Bubs runs Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11:00am.

Mums and Bubs isn't the only class open to you postnatally. Once you're cleared to return to exercise, Build and Flow are both suitable too, modified session to session as you need — plenty of postnatal clients move between Mums and Bubs and their regular classes through the week, and we'd genuinely encourage you to. Book whatever fits your week; your instructor will adjust the class around you, every time, whichever one it is.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Pilates safe postnatally?

Yes! Once your doctor has cleared you at your six-week postnatal check. Reformer resistance is easy to scale, and every class works in dedicated core and pelvic floor recovery. We follow best practice postnatal guidelines to ensure safety and comfort during your class — your instructor manages all of this for you.

Can I bring my baby to class?

Yes! That's the whole point. Bring bub in their basinet or capsule and settle in beside the reformer; there's no need to arrange separate care.

Do I have to book Mums and Bubs, or can I keep coming to my normal class?

Whichever suits you, once you're cleared to return to exercice. Build and Flow are both fine postnatally with modification, so you're welcome to keep your usual days. Mums and Bubs is simply a dedicated option for when you want bub in the room with you.

How do I book, and is there a special Mums and Bubs pack?

There's no separate pass or pricing tier for Mums and Bubs — it books exactly like any other class, on your existing membership, pack, or casual booking, through [our online booking system]. Just select a Mums and Bubs session (Monday, Wednesday or Thursday, 11:00am) from the timetable the same way you'd book Build or Flow.

I've never been to Stoked before — where do I start?

Start with our 28 Day Start — a $200, 28-day intro to the studio that's the way everyone begins at Stoked. It gets you settled into the reformer, comfortable with how classes run, and you can use it to try Mums & Bubs alongside Build or Flow to see what fits your week best.

What should I bring?

Water, comfortable clothing you can move in, your basinet, capsule, bouncer or blanket for bub. Space inside the studio is limited so prams will need to park outside. Plus bring anything you'd normally need for a couple of hours out with your baby (feeds, nappies, a favourite toy).
